Matchprint™ Model 2570 Water Recirculator

The Matchprint™ Model 2570 water recirculating unit is an optional, self-contained, rinse water supply that filters and recirculates rinse water within the Model 2430 processor.

There are two recirculator configurations, one with a filter only and one with a filter and a pH cartridge. If only the filter is used, the water in the recirculator and the filter must be changed every two weeks OR after 2,000 ft2 (286 m2) of proofing material has been processed. Using a pH cartridge together with the filter allows high-volume shops to process 8,000 ft2 (743 m2) of proofing material within the two weeks before the water, filter and pH cartridge need to be changed.

A warning indicator on the processor control panel warns the operator when the preset limit of proofing material has been reached.

Matchprint™ Model 2571 Developer Mixer

The Matchprint™ Model 2571 developer mixer is an optional, self-contained developer supply tank that mixes developer concentrate and softened water for use with the Model 2430 processor.

Precise quantities of water and developer concentrate are added to the mixer, then mixed for a prescribed amount of time, after which the mixture is ready for use in the Model 2430 processor. When the mixer is properly connected to the supply hose and vacuum tube of the processor, a pressure switch actuates a warning buzzer to inform the operator when the developer level in the mixer is low.

Matchprint™ Model 2572 Disposal Unit

The Matchprint™ Model 2572 disposal unit is an optional, self-contained, spent developer retainer that captures waste developer drained from the Model 2430 processor.

When properly connected to the vacuum switch, a warning indicator activated by the switch informs the operator when the disposal unit is full and needs to be drained.

Color Proofing III Developer

Color Proofing III developer is a ready- to-use water-based developer for processing Matchprint™ III proofs and Color-Key III proofs in the Model 2430 proofing processor. The developer is 97.9% water, contains no solvents or alcohol and can be sewered without pre-treatment in most areas of the country.

Color Proofing III Developer Concentrate

Before handling or using any graphic arts material, be sure to read the Material Safety Data Sheet for health hazard data, precautionary information and suggested first aid.

Refer to the Product Environmental Data sheet for proper disposal of developer. Color Proofing III Developer Concentrate when mixed properly produces a water-based developer - equivalent to pre-mixed developer - for processing Matchprint™ III proofs and Color-Key™ III proofs in the Model 2430 proofing processor.

  • Use the 3M Model 2571 developer mixer to mix Color Proofing III Developer Concentrate with the correct amount of softened water. Always add water to the mixer first, then add the Developer Concentrate. Refer to the mixing instructions below.
  • The water used to mix Color Proofing III developer concentrate MUST have a hardness value less than 2 grains. To determine the softness of your water, use SOFCHEK™ test strips (#77-8066-4574-9).
Follow the procedures below for mixing developer concentrate in an empty mixer, OR a partially full mixer.

Mixing Instructions for an Empty Mixer

Use this procedure when mixing developer for the first time, or if the mixer is completely emptied. The mixing instructions for a partially full mixer follows below.

1. Make sure the mixer is NOT connected to an electrical outlet, then move the Model 2571 developer mixer to a sink area.

2. Open the top cover of the mixer and fill the mixer with 15 gallons of softened water.

NOTE: When mixing developer for the first time, or if mixer has been totally emptied, pre-measure the 15 gallons of water to fill mixer.

3. Close the top cover of the mixer and secure it closed with the latch.

4. Move the mixer to within 6 feet of a 110 VAC, grounded wall outlet and connect the mixer. This activates the mixer pump.

5. Add three cannisters of developer concentrate to the mixer. Pour the contents of each cannister into the funnel opening on the mixer's top cover. See illustration below. Wipe the funnel area clean with a damp cloth.

NOTE: This is a ratio of one cannister of developer concentrate per 5 gallons of water.

6. Allow the developer concentrate and water to mix for at least 10 minutes after the last cannister has been added.

7. After a minimum of 10 minutes, disconnect the mixer from the wall outlet and wrap the cord around the cord holder. Move the mixer next to, or under, the Model 2430 processor near the left side.

8. Insert the processor developer supply tube through the funnel opening of the mixer.

Mixing Instructions for a Partially Full Mixer

Use this procedure when mixing new developer and the mixer is partially full.

1. Remove the processor developer supply tube from the mixer.
2. Check and note the level of developer in mixer on the sight level indicator located on the outside wall of the mixer. See illustration on previous page.
3. Make sure the mixer is NOT connected to an electrical outlet, then move the mixer to a sink area.
4. Open the top cover of the mixer. Add either 5 or 10 gallons of softened water according to the sight level indicator See illustration on previous page.
The amount of water you add depends on the amount of developer left in the unit at the time you are mixing new developer (not to exceed 15 gallons of liquid in the unit).
5. Close the top cover of the mixer and secure it closed with the latch.
6. Move the mixer to within 6 feet of a 110 VAC, grounded wall outlet and connect the mixer. This activates the mixer pump.
7. Add developer concentrate to the mixer. Use one cannister for 5 gallons of water; two cannisters for 10 gallons of water. Pour the contents of each cannister into the funnel opening on the mixer's top cover. See illustration on previous page. Wipe the funnel area clean with a damp cloth.
8. Allow developer concentrate and water to mix for at least 10 minutes after the last cannister has been added.
9. After a minimum of 10 minutes, disconnect the mixer from the wall outlet and wrap the cord around the cord holder. Move unit next to, or under, the processor near the left side.
10. Replace the processor developer supply tube through the funnel opening of the mixer.
